Roopak R. Tamboli is a senior research fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH). He works in the areas of 3D reconstruction from multiples views and quality assessment of glasses-free lightfield 3D content. He has been closely involved in setting up the “Immersive Multimedia and Telepresence Lab” at IITH. Pertaining to QoE, his work includes generation of super-multiview content as well as subjective and objective methods for evaluating quality such content visualized on ligtfield displays. Prior to this, Roopak received his Master’s degree (M.Tech) in 2015 from IITH. For his Master’s thesis, he explored sparse representations and compressed sensing of electrocardiogram signals. During an internship with Yokohama Research Laboratories, Hitachi Ltd., Japan, he explored compressed sensing for MR images. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.E.) (2010) in Electronics Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering Sangli, India. Roopak has recently joined QoE-Net in January 2018 and presently is with Holografika Kft., Budapest, where he will work on QoE of lightfield content.
